Welcome to my new feature and the new year!
We’re going to start off big:
Sounds simple, right? It is, and it isn’t. Many people say that they love God, they go to Church, they do good things, but is that really love? When we are dating someone and fall in love with that person, there isn’t much that can take us away from them – other than work, and sometimes time with other friends. We want to spend as much time with them as possible. We will do anything they ask of us. We do things for them that we feel will make them happy, like bring them flowers or gifts. We open doors, we talk for hours on the phone or text, we do all that we can to show them how much we love them. As time goes on, and years of marriage and children increase in years, we don’t do those things any more. Sometimes it happens sooner than later for some couples, but that’s where the words from the song, “you don’t bring me flowers anymore” comes from. Life happens, and we lose sight of the ones we love.
We need to just tell Him simply, “I love You” every morning, noon and night. We need to show our love to Him by showing others kindness – “What you do to the least of my brothers, you do to me,” Jesus said.
Even Pope Francis agrees. According to his list of new years resolutions we should all adopt, “Take care of your spiritual life, your relationship with God, because this is the backbone of everything we do and everything we are.”
This week, every morning when you wake up, say “I love you God”
Every lunch that you eat, say “I love you Jesus”
Every night when you lay your head down, say “I love you Holy Spirit”
