I AM

Accept that God is the Great I AM, and we are not.

I write this as I drive away from my house for the second time today forgetting to bring something along with me. This is just as frustrating as keeping my house clean or burning dinner or forgetting about a meeting on my calendar.

We are not perfect.

As much as we want to believe we are or fool ourselves into thinking we can do it all, we are not God. We are limited humans created in God’s image and likeness. We were never meant to be gods. Look at Genesis 1:26-28

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.  And God blessed them.

He gave us dominion over the animals but not over each other or equal to Him. It was the serpent that gave us the idea we could be like God.  In Genesis 3:4-5:

But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

We need to put God’s power and might back into the hands of God.  We are not to limit ourselves, but instead control what God has given us to control and leave the rest to the Great I AM. For He alone is God and can do all things.

Accept your shortcomings, it’s ok if you’re not perfect and thank God were not! Just imagine all of that responsibility….. No thanks.

This week, accept yourself for who you are, a child of God and not God. Pray that you can love yourself and all your flaws, and love others and all their flaws. Love the Great I AM, with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength.
